Inauguration of Dr. Thomas H. Powell, 24th President,
Mount St. Mary's College and Seminary, Oct. 24, 2003
On Friday, October 24, 2003 Dr. Thomas H. Powell was inaugurated as the 24th
President of Mount St. Mary's College and Seminary. The day, which
consisted of a morning Mass, campus-wide luncheon and formal inauguration
ceremony in the Mt. St. Mary's ARCC, was the conclusion of a week's activities,
all celebrating the college's new president.

Above, members of the Mount community took part in Wednesday's campus
beautification..

On Friday, the day began with Mass in the Chapel of the Immaculate
Conception, celebrated by William Cardinal Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore.
President Powell received a blessing from the Cardinal, pictured at right.
After a campus-wide luncheon, the formal inauguration of President Powell
took place in the Knott Arena, pictured below.
At left, Mount alumni joined in the procession.
