Paul's Spirituality for the Church Today
Dr. Michael Gorman
In the year of St. Paul, it is good for us to listen for the voice of
God speaking to us through the great apostle. Paul spoke a powerful
message of God’s radical grace and call to live fully in and for Christ
by the power of the Spirit. In this session, we will look at several
dimensions of Paul’s spirituality, focusing on the centrality of
conversion, cross, and community in his life and message. How should
these realities inspire, guide, and challenge us today?

1. Community and Ministry in Paul's Churches
...and Ours
Dr. Michael Gorman, Ecumenical Institute of
Theology
In this workshop, we will explore Paul’s vision for
the church and for ministry, focusing on such topics as the body of
Christ, spiritual gifts, small Christian communities, multiculturalism,
countercultural witness in the world, collegiality, and the cross-shaped
(cruciform) character of both the church and ministry. Leaders of small
groups, youth ministers, catechists, and pastoral associates will
encounter texts and ideas to re-shape their vision of the church and of
ministry.

storytelling in the classroom.

As ministers, we collaborate with Christ’s work in lives. When we
invite others to a deeper hearing of the Gospel and a more intentional
response, we are really hoping and working for transformation. What is
it like to encounter these invitations ourselves? We, too, are to be
continually open to transformation. In this session we will look at what
makes this possible – waking up to the hope who holds you. CERT: Cat/YM=A

9. Adoration...and Beyond!
Rev. Austin Murphy, Towson
University
The
practice of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a popular devotion
among the faithful and has led to many vocations to priesthood and
religious life, as well as bringing comfort and peace to those who spend
a while in prayer with Jesus. As we gather before His Presence, what
does Jesus speak to us? How does He call us? Where does He send us?
Adoration, just as the Mass, is not simply a passive dwelling in God's
Presence. The Eucharist calls us to act in the world and nourishes us
for that task. In this talk, we will explore the beauty of this
devotion, as well as the challenge that Jesus gives each of us, once
recharged, to act as disciples in our world.
