Ever
Onward!
An
eventful year lies ahead
for the Center, the
Region
I
find myself saying that
I will get to certain
projects during the
summer, "when it is
slow". After these
years of ministry, I am
finally smart enough to
realize that it never
gets slow! These
past few weeks have been
very eventful for the
Center, and much more
lies ahead as we prepare
for the rigors of Fall.
At
the June
26 Leadership meeting,
representatives from the
three counties offered
feedback on initiatives
for the 2000-2001 fiscal
year. I am deeply
grateful to those who
came for the affirmation
and great suggestions. I
will take much of what
we discussed and convert
it into programs and
activities in the coming
year. Some proposals
receiving the strongest
support:
- Catechist
Formation Plan 2000
- All gathered
expressed positive
support for the
plan, which proposes
six hours of
formation at every
parish and school,
plus systematic
courses offered by
the Center. In late
July all facilities
will receive my
formal request for
your part in this
plan.
- "Our
Hearts Were Burning
Within Us" - We
will use our March
10 formation day as
a springboard for
moving the agenda of
adult formation
forward in the
Region.
- Theological
Update for Leaders -
Members
expressed interest
in bringing a
theologian into the
Region, perhaps in a
one day retreat
format, to keep
leaders up to date
with current
developments.
- Technology
Task Force - convening
of experts in
various technologies
to discuss present
and future
possibilities for
formation and
training via
television, radio,
the Internet, and
more.
In
the next few months, I
will attempt to
concretize these and
other ideas into
projects, meetings or
programs. I plan to have
the Center's Program
Calendar for 2000-2001
in place by the end of
July. Please help me by
keeping the Center
apprised of what is
happening in your part
of the Region. Consider
inviting your
neighboring parishes or
schools to events that
you sponsor. And please,
let me know what you think
about the Center's
plans, projects and
programs.
In
other news, the
Archdiocese and the
Pastors from the Region
have approved the
Center's 2000-2001
budget. That means I
have plenty to keep me
busy for at least another
year!
I
look forward to another
"action-packed"
year of ministry with
you.
