Sponsor Couple Training |
Archdiocesan Sponsor
Couple Training, St.
Ignatius, Ijamsville, for
parish married couples who
wish to become sponsor
couples for the engaged. The
two session course prepares
the volunteers to administer
the FOCCUS pre-marriage
inventory and learn how to
help the engaged couple
interpret the results and
learn how to communicate
better. The course also
covers the essentials of
Catholic teaching about the
Sacrament of Marriage,
Welcoming Children, and
creating a Christian family
life. Sponsor couples guide
the engaged couple through
the immediate preparation
for marriage, in partnership
with the priest or deacon.
Sponsor couples are a
ministry of the evangelizing
parish, inviting the engaged
into their homes on a
schedule that is flexible
and relaxed, extending the
welcoming and caring hand of
the church. Sponsor couples
should be in valid Catholic
marriages and married at
least 3 years. Interchurch
couples welcome.
To register couples, please
complete the

Parishes pay
$50/couple for materials.
