Gwen
Skrabak Joins Staff of St. Ann, Hagerstown
Gwen Skrabak is the new Director of Adult Faith Formation at St. Ann Church,
Hagerstown. The mother of four grown children, Gwen is a native of West Virginia,
where she was raised by the good
sisters of Saint Joseph. Gwen has lived in Hagerstown since the mid-1980's
and holds a Masters degree in Theology from the Ecumenical Institute of St.
Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore. Prior to her current position
at St. Ann's, Gwen was the Campus Minister and Chairperson of the Theology
Department at Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown.
Other church-related activities Gwen has been involved in during the past ten or more years include the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults; Chairing the liturgy committee; founding SWORD, a support group for those who are separated, widowed or divorced; and actively promoting Jewish-Catholic dialogue.
Currently Gwen is an associate member of the Shalem Institute, a two year spiritual formation program, located in Bethesda, MD. From this experience, Gwen hopes to bring new insight into her own ministry of giving spiritual direction.
Among the beautiful stained glass windows of St. Ann's church, Gwen is especially drawn to one. It is the one which quotes the Gospel of John, chapter 17 - scripture from which she draws much of her inspiration...
"Do
you love me?"
And he said to Him,
"Lord You know everything;
You know that I love you."
Central Maryland extends a special welcome to Gwen Skrabak!
