Joy Marie Foust joins St. Joseph, Buckeystown as Youth Minister

Joy Marie Foust is the new Youth Minister at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor in Buckeystown. Her work will include ministry to both middle and senior high youth. Meeting the spiritual needs of the 30-40 high school aged parishioners, she will oversee confirmation classes as well as the parish Youth Ministry program. While the regular Youth Ministry meetings are held once a month, she is planning additional activities and outings, some of which may also include the middle school youth.

With an eye to the future, Joy hopes to make the parish youth ministry program more attractive to teens, by implementing more social and service-oriented activities. She hopes to help the youth learn more about their faith and, at the same time, feel comfortable in living their faith. Collaborating with the Youth Ministers from surrounding parishes, Joy is looking forward to some joint outings, such as pizza parties and a corn-maze trip, giving the parish youth the opportunity to meet and interact with other Catholic youth from Frederick County.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Joy holds a BA in Theology . She also works as an assistant librarian at the National Cathedral School in Washington. A classically trained vocalist (she trained at Westminster Choir College and also at Montgomery College), Joy sings as well. She presently lives in Gaithersburg but is feeling the lure of Central Maryland’s beautiful countryside.

The CEM Center welcomes Joy to her ministry in Central Maryland!

The Catholic Education Ministries Center of Central Maryland provides ongoing support to the Catechetical Ministries of Carroll, Frederick, and Washington Counties. This includes training programs for leaders and volunteers in parishes and schools, plus consultation in all areas of catechesis.
