Taking the reigns from past Youth Minister Susan Moody,
Sarabeth Bowe has recently joined the staff of Holy Family Catholic Community in
Middletown as the new Coordinator of Youth Ministry. She and her husband,
Robert, are settling into the community of Holy Family, having relocated here
from Wisconsin this summer.
Sarabeth holds a BA in Religious Studies from St. Norbert College in De Pere,
Wisconsin. A native of Jim Falls,
Wisconsin, Sarabeth grew up in a family of four children that was very active in
their parish. Her mother, who was the parish Director of Religious Education,
started the youth program in which Sarabeth became involved from an early age.
While attending St. Norbert College, Sarabeth was the Life
Teen Coordinator for two parishes. She made a mission trip to Bolivia and Peru,
and got her first taste of Hispanic Catholicism. Upon her return to the US, she
became involved in ministering to the local Hispanic community.
With a passion for social justice and ethnic diversity,
Sarabeth hopes to implement an appreciation of Hispanic feasts and traditions
within the parish youth programs, such as observance of the Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe and Corpus Christi.
Sarabeth recalls the words of St. Paul as she considers
her role as Youth Minister…
As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12
