Effective July 1, William Beliveau is the new principal for St. Mary’s School, Hagerstown, replacing Terrence Ruppert. Mr. Beliveau comes to Hagerstown from St. Clement the First Academy in Baltimore where he was both Assistant Principal and 5th grade teacher. Prior to that, he taught at St. Catherine of Sienna and at Catholic Community Middle schools, both in Baltimore. A graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School, Baltimore, Mr. Beliveau holds an undergraduate degree in History from UMBC and a masters degree in Education Administration from Loyola College. Though still in the settling-in phase at his new job, Mr. Beliveau has begun formulating his plans and goals for St. Mary’s. Near the top of his list is making Catholic education affordable. He believes cost should not be an issue for families who wish to send their children to Catholic school and would like to work toward this goal. Having joined St. Mary’s parish, Mr. Beliveau resides in Hagerstown with his wife, Jeanine and 9 year old son, Thomas, who will be attending St. Mary’s school in the fall. He is a sports enthusiast and also a Civil War buff. When reflecting about scripture and its significance to his life, Mr. Beliveau calls to mind Jesus’ parable about the talents from Matthew’s gospel and applies it to education. God has given us gifts which we are expected to use in this life for the betterment of all,
“Well
done my good and faithful servant…Come, share your master’s joy!” Central Maryland extends a warm welcome to Mr. Beliveau!
