Colleen Perret is the Director of Faith Formation at St. Ignatius parish in Ijamsville. In her new job, Colleen oversees the religious education for parish children, aged pre-K through fifth grade; preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation; Rite of Christian Initiation for children; Vacation Bible School; and Adult Faith Formation.

Add to that hefty list, Youth Ministry for the parish!  Colleen is charged with leadership of youth ministry for middle and high school grades.                                                                                                       

Prior to her appointment at St. Ignatius, Colleen was the Pastoral Assistant at Resurrection/Riderwood Retirement Community in Montgomery County.  There she helped coordinate liturgies and scheduling of ministers. Previous ministries include  Director of the Sabbatical Program at Washington Theological Union in Takoma Park

A native of Bowie, Maryland, Colleen earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland at College Park. In addition, she has a certificate in parish ministry from Trinity College and a certificate in Youth Ministry from the Center for Ministry Development.  She is finishing her Masters degree at Washington Theological Union this year.  Colleen also spent many years volunteering for the church and for the local schools.

She and her husband, Joe, live in Montgomery County where they are members of Resurrection parish in Burtonsville.  They have three children, Daniel, Kathleen and Sarah. 

Though it seems there is an avalanche awaiting her at her office door some mornings, Colleen never forgets who is really in charge: “God is in charge,” she explains.  “It is truly the Holy Spirit who works through each of us.
