Carolyn Kilonsky is the newly hired Coordinator of Youth Ministry for Holy Family Catholic Community in Middletown. Previous to her appointment, Carolyn taught in the parish religion education for most of the nine years she and her family have been members of Holy Family.  She began teaching in the K-5 religious education program when her children were small.  As her children advanced in age, so did Susan in her level of teaching, moving up as a 6^th-8^th religious education teacher.   It was a natural progression for her to become active with Holy Family’s Total Youth Ministry program when her children entered high school.

Carolyn also served on the parish pastoral council, and on the parent advisory committee.  In these roles she has made decisions regarding which text books to use in the religious education  program, and has been  a part of the implementation of a whole community catechesis program at the parish.  Given all her involvement in the parish, and her involvement with the youth ministry program, it seemed a natural step for her to pick up where departing youth Minster, Ruthann Talbott, left off.

Besides the Total Youth Ministry program for senior high youth, Carolyn is also responsible for the Rock – the middle school youth ministry program, and sacramental preparation for confirmation.

Carolyn was born in California, raised on the East Coast and lived 6 years in the Chicago area before coming to Maryland. She is a graduate of Wittenburg University in Springfield, Ohio and has a Bachelors degree in psychology.  Carolyn has lived in Middletown for 9 years with her husband Tim and 3 children, Dana, Erin and Brian. She enjoys playing tennis, Curves, volunteering for the PTA, and watching her children’s sporting events.

The Catholic Education Ministries Center of Central Maryland provides ongoing support to the Catechetical Ministries of Carroll, Frederick, and Washington Counties. This includes training programs for leaders and volunteers in parishes and schools, plus consultation in all areas of catechesis.
