Sr. Joan
Maenner, OSF named
Pastoral Life Director
Sr. Joan Maenner, OSF has been named Pastoral Life Director of St. Anthony, Emmitsburg and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
parishes, effective July 1, 2005, replacing Rev. Jim Hannon, who is being
reassigned to parish work in Western Maryland. Sr. Joan was formerly
Pastoral Associate doing adult faith formation at the parishes. In her new
role as Pastoral Life Director she will be
responsible for the pastoral life and administration of the parishes, with the
exception of Liturgy and Sacraments, duties which will be filled by area
priests.
A native of Baltimore, Sr.
Joan is a member Sisters of St. Francis in Philadelphia. She taught in
Catholic grade schools and also served as Principal of Baltimore’s St. Katharine
Sienna. Later, she was Assistant Provincial of the Sisters of St. Francis
of Philadelphia for eight years.
From 1990-2004, Sr. Joan
was a Pastoral Life Director in Western Maryland.
During the summer of 2004 she came to St. Anthony, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
parishes.
Sr. Joan had the following to say regarding her
new appointment, "I look forward to using my talents and energy
to continue working with the people of St. Anthony Shrine and Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel. I have found the people to be dedicated to continue growing in
their faith formation and committed to working through the development
projects. There is a lot of energy and community in these parishes."
