Harry Ford returns to Youth Ministry in Libertytown
by Judy Williams

Harry Ford is back!  Harry Ford is back as the Youth Minister at St. Peter the Apostle parish in Libertytown.  From 1988-1998 Harry served as volunteer Youth Ministry coordinator for the parish.  Now he back, as a full time staff member.

Harry oversees St. Peter’s senior high youth ministry program, SPY, which is ever-strong with over 120 teens registered.  He also oversees the junior high and 6th grade youth ministry program.  Dawn Miller, who was the parish youth minister previously, will be remaining active with the parish’s SPY band.

Born in Washington, DC, Harry and his family have been living in the Frederick area since 1979.  Harry is a recently retired engineer, who, for 35 years, specialized in model testing for the U.S. Navy.  He has an engineering degree from Catholic University, and a masters degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola College.

Being a long time member of the parish, Harry serves or has served St. Peter’s in other roles as well – parish council and building committee member, parish lector and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.

In addition to his parish ministries, Harry has also worked as a counselor for Catholic Charities, Emmitsburg location.  He has also been active with area boy scouts since 1980, having served as a leader and assistant scout master.  He and his wife, Kathleen, live in Woodsboro and have three grown children.

And when asked where he finds strength and inspiration for all he does, Harry answers, “prayer, scripture and the Eucharist – all these give me strength.”

Welcome back, Harry, and best wishes with your ministry in Central Maryland!
